Position Summary:
The Human Resources (HR) Manager is a department of one and reports directly to the CEO. This role is responsible for overseeing all core HR functions, including: recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, performance management, benefits administration, HR policies, compliance, and staff development. The HR Manager also manages agency-wide compliance training requirements through the organization’s Learning Management System (LMS), vendor Relias. The HR Manager provides both strategic guidance and day-to-day support to staff and leadership, ensuring that HR practices are effective, compliant, and aligned with the agency’s mission.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Talent Management & Recruitment
- Lead full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, and orientation processes to attract and retain top talent.
- Develop and implement effective sourcing, interviewing, and selection practices.
- Ensure smooth and welcoming new-hire experiences.
Employee Relations & Culture
- Serve as a trusted advisor to staff and leadership on employee relations, conflict resolution, and workplace concerns.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive work culture that aligns with the agency’s mission.
- Lead employee engagement, recognition, and retention initiatives.
- Work with leadership to recommend and implement an employee retention program.
Performance & Development
- Support performance management systems, including goal setting, coaching, and evaluations.
- Identify and coordinate professional development and training opportunities for staff growth.
HR Compliance & Policies
- Develop, update, and implement HR policies and procedures in alignment with legal requirements and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws, licensing standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and documentation.
Benefits & HR Administration
- Oversee employee benefits administration and serve as primary point of contact for related questions.
- Manage HR systems, documentation, and reporting to support organizational effectiveness.
OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attends required internal meetings, trainings, and events.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, organizational development, human resources or other associated degree programs is required.
- Has a current and/or agrees to achieve certification as an HR specialist.
- Has excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Has knowledge of payroll systems and computer programs.
- Minimum five years of progressive human resources experience, preferably in a non-profit, social service or healthcare setting.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
- This is an onsite position supporting both the Princeton and Ottawa locations. Will require working in both locations with primary site being Princeton.
- Individual is required to have a valid IL driver’s license.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary: $80,000 - $90,000
