Human Resources Director Opportunity for the City of Ottawa, Illinois

    The City of Ottawa, a growing community of 18,000+ residents in North Central Illinois, 75 miles southwest of Chicago, IL. is seeking a Human Resources Director. 

    Duties include but are not limited to directing and coordinating human resource activities, such as employment, compensation, labor relations, benefits, policies, training and employee services, administration of employee health benefits, coordinating pre-employment testing pursuant to State statute, updating and creation of personnel policies.

    Experience and Skills Required:

    • A four-year degree in Human Resources or a related field.
    • Human Resource Certification.
    • A minimum of five years human resource management experience required.
    • Knowledge of employment law.
    • Experience in multiple human resource disciplines.
    • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
    • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
    • Ability to prioritize workload.
    • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with elected officials, City staff and city boards and commissions.
    • Residency within the corporate limits of the City of Ottawa is required unless the candidate is already residing within five (5) miles of corporate limits.
